V2V friend and companion participate in Honor Flight

Vet to Vet Maine Peer Companion Susan Sebestyen and her V2VME Veteran Friend Jean Doe went on a trip of a lifetime to Washington, DC, on April 29-May 1 thanks to Honor Flight Maine. They were part of a group of veterans and guardians (companions) who toured military monuments and memorials in the nation’s capital. Honor Flight hosts the trips, made available free of charge to older veterans, as a way to honor them for their service and sacrifices. Susan began visiting Jean four years ago in her role as V2VME peer companion. She encouraged Jean to apply for Honor Flight and was honored to be her guardian on the trip. Here are photos of their trip and the welcome at Portland Jetport when they returned. Applications for Honor Flight are available on the website at honorflightmaine.org.
